ARE WE BOVVERED?

A Conference For Troubled Young People

This conference is a challenge to anyone who works with young people. Are we doing enough to help them deal with the issues they struggle with in the 21st century?

Over the last decade in Northern Ireland there has been observable development in the training and service provision of counselling for adults in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Sadly the same level of development has not been seen in the training and service provision of counselling for children and young people and yet through the media we hear on a daily basis the existence of need. Some counselling is being provided but not enough to meet the need.

As a result of exposure to parent demand Glenabbey is proposing to host a regional conference at the end of February 2008 to provide a forum for all public, private and voluntary parties to discuss the existence of need, the current training and service provision, and to begin to find a way forward in developing this area.
