At May Street we believe God is ‘Creator’ and desires that all individuals should explore their unique and special individual creativity.
Our creative arts division which is currently being explored, endeavours to develop talent, allowing people to explore their personal and cultural identity, reflecting the evangelical belief that in being creative we discover that we are made in the image of a creative God. Literature, drama, dance, art and music workshops and activities will be part of this venture.
Who we are, or rather who we perceive ourselves to be, shapes our personality and determines our effective engagement with community. We believe that many people in N. Ireland struggle with low self esteem, the result of years of confused identities and the familiar struggle associated with war-damaged societies. If Belfast is to become a leading City again we must believe in ourselves and discover a new cultural identity, positive in its context and one which can be embraced by all citizens. At May Street we seek to identify the positive cultural factors that can provide a healthier society, allowing individuals to express themselves, believe in themselves and to ultimately allow Belfast take its seat among leading global Cities.
